This journal is a continuation of Bonorowo Wetlands that was founded and published in 2011 by Nusantara Institute of Biodiversity and Universitas  Sebelas Maret Surakarta, publishing bilingual manuscripts in English (US) and Indonesian. Since 2017, only English (US) manuscripts have been published by Society for Indonesian Biodiversity in collaboration with Institut Pertanian Bogor and Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, and hosted by smujo.id. The name of International Journal of Bonorowo Wetlands was first used in 2021. The manuscript is published in English (US). Indexed by Google Scholar and Crossref.
