Pangandaran, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 4: 133-138. The purpose of this research is to know the
difference of rice varieties grown in the present and the ancient times, the utilization also cultivation. Rice farming (Oryza sativa L.) is
the most important basic needs for most of the human population in the world. Wonoharjo Village, West Java has great potential in
terms of agriculture, especially in the area of rice production centers. Rice varieties become interesting, where the difference between
the types of rice cultivated in ancient times with the present day. The method used in this research is qualitative method is descriptive
analysis. The method of determining informants was done by snowball sampling technique. Data collection technique is done by
semistructured interview. Research location in Wonoharjo Village, Pangandaran. Rice varieties in rice cultivation currently contain 11
varieties, while varieties grown in ancient times there are 13 varieties. Based on the results of the interview can be known the benefits of
rice crops and cultivation process.
